On May 18, 1997, a small group of people met together in a home for a Bible Study and time of encouragement and worship. The group continued to meet and add more members of the next few weeks. By June, the group had outgrown the home they were meeting and they began meeting at the Pryor Building on Bower Avenue off Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown. Through much prayer, the group followed the Lord’s leading to become a church. In July 1997, Faith Christian Fellowship was legally recognized as a church. The rest, they say, is history.
Many changes have occurred over the past 20 years since that first service. We have changed our location a few times, many new faces, said goodbye to faithful members who have went on to be with the Lord, etc. But one thing remains—”All glory goes to JESUS CHRIST, this ministry exists solely for the glorification of Jesus Christ and the good edification of the saints, and no local assembly of believers can ever be what God intended without fervent prayer, days of fasting and seeking the Lord, giving time, spiritual talents, and tithes and of course dedicated workers.” (from a letter from Pastor John to the congregation within the first few months of the church.)
Over the next five months as we approach the 20th anniversary date, we will be doing special events and activities to celebrate this blessed event. Please watch the bulletin, newsletter, and website for information on upcoming 20th Anniversary Celebrations!
Anniversary Celebration for the month of February:
FCF Timeline— There is a time-line in the foyer at FCF. Join the celebration by bringng in your family picture and post it on the timeline when you began attending FCF.
Who was the first person/family you met at FCF? There will be note cards available at the timeline to add the name of the first person you met at FCF. It will be exciting to see how the timeline grows as the body of FCF grew (and continues to grow.)
