“Steady growth” is a phrase to describe God’s faithful work in Gordon throughout his entire life.
He was raised in the small, southeast Ohio town of Lancaster. He enjoyed the benefits of a faith-filled home from the beginning. At age 8, he trusted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized. Thanks to godly parents and older sister, an encouraging church family, and quality friends, Gordon developed a genuine love for Jesus Christ, and the people and work of God. At West Virginia University, growth continued to happen as a result of regular involvement in Campus Crusade and the strong relationships found there. Soon after graduation, God continued to grow him through the demanding years of seminary in Dallas, Texas. A desire for full-time, pastoral ministry was the clear, next step of faith. Now, nearly 14 years later, the exciting opportunity to serve as lead pastor at FCF makes that decision seem as blessed as ever.
In 1998, Gordon met his future wife, Beverly. They were married on April 8, 2000. Almost 16 years later, to their number they’ve added a son, Nick (11), a daughter, Hope (9), and another son, Isaiah (2). God continues to shape and grow Gordon into the image of Christ most often through these four, priceless relationships.
In addition to time with family (games, “Family Fridays”, and “Downtown”—you’ll have to ask them) and date-nights with Beverly, Gordon enjoys regular exercise, college football, and books on counseling and theology. He also looks to renew a twenty-year-dormant pastime of kayaking in Wild and Wonderful, West Virginia!
